The impact of plastic injection mold on the market is bigger than you might imagine. Since its invention in 1872, the injection molding process (along with the plastics industry) has turned into a multi billion dollar business. The machinery involved in plastic injection molding is costlier and very sensitive and complex equipment. These machines are called as injection molding machines. A machine used to extrude materials is very similar to the injection-molding machine explained above. A motor turns a thread, which feeds granules of plastic through a heater. The granules melt into a liquid, which is forced through a die, forming a long ‘tube like’ shape. The extrusion is then cooled and forms a solid shape. The shape of the die determines the shape of the tube.
Here, hollow molds will be packed with special powdered plastic (all secured spokes which look like pipe and extends from a core hub). These molds rotate onto separate axes simultaneously. This hub will swing the entire mold towards an enclosed furnace room, which causes this powder to easily melt down as well as stick to the inner sides of these tools. As these molds keep turning gradually, these tools move inside a separate cooling room. At this point, water is sprayed and this will make the plastic to sufficiently harden – creating a useful hollow part.
In Injection Molding, melted plastic is pushed into a mold cavity. Once cooled, the mold may be taken off. This plastic molding process is commonly used in mass-production or prototyping of a merchandise. Injection molding machines were made in the 1930’s.
